Online professional development for teacher productivity

A step-by-step system that trains teachers to be truly intentional with their instructional, contractual, and personal time

We're the leading PD provider for teacher wellbeing & time management

How can 40 Hour help teachers at YOUR school?

  • Is your faculty in need of a serious morale boost?
  • Are your teachers overwhelmed, exhausted, and struggling to balance all their responsibilities?
  • Do you need to offer teachers support in adjusting to the "new normal" for the coming school year?
  • Do you want faculty to have the energy and focus to give 100% to students every day?
  • Would you like teachers to have explicit training in organization, task prioritization, and time management?
  • Do you need practical PD for streamlining lesson planning, parent communication, grading, and tech integration?

The 40 Hour Teacher Workweek Club has been the solution to these issues & more for teachers in 31,000+ schools.

    What is 40 Hour?

A one-time fee provides indefinite access to an online course in productivity, including personalized support.

The goal is NOT for teachers to work 40 hours a week, but rather, to choose a target number that is realistic for them, and be intentional about staying focused on things that are most beneficial to students.

We give teachers ongoing support in changing their mindset and habits, so they can innovate rather than doing things the way they’ve always been done.

Though the program is best for K-12 general education teachers in the United States, the materials are not tied to a specific curriculum or set of standards.

Our resources are designed to be applicable to teachers’ work throughout their careers, no matter what grade level or subject area they teach.

Everything your school needs to streamline and simplify the K-12 teacher workload

    Clear, Actionable Steps

Teachers get 12 months (52 modules) of classroom-tested productivity ideas in both PDF and audio podcast form. We’ll go step-by-step through each focus area. Teachers choose ideas relevant to them, & watch as small changes add up to big results!

    Positive, Supportive Community

All members get personalized ongoing support. The club’s coaches + thousands of other teachers will share ideas, answer questions, and provide encouragement and accountability.

    Printable Forms & Templates

More than $350 worth of forms and templates are included to help teachers organize data, communication, and more. Some are club-exclusive; others are curated from the best of the digital marketplace so teachers don't have to create from scratch.

    Free Bonus Materials

A self-care video training, list-making system, and The Big 5 Tips for Teacher Productivity are available as soon as teachers join so they can jump start their results right away.

    PD Certificate

Teachers can use our professional development log to track their learning. After the yearlong course is over, they'll receive a certificate of completion. We will verify credit for up to 104 continuing education units (CEUs.) Additionally, educators can get graduate-level credits toward a masters degree for completing any of our 40 Hour programs. Learn more about our NEW partnership with the University of the Pacific–Benerd College.

    Ongoing Support Indefinitely

Teachers keep their access to the learning portal AND the discussion community when the course is over at no charge! They can revisit the resources and get support anytime, in order to maintain their new habits permanently.

    The research behind 40 Hour

The program was developed by Angela Watson, a National Board Certified Teacher with 11 years experience in the classroom and over a decade of experience as an instructional coach and educational consultant. Watson has been supporting teachers online and sharing resources on her website (Truth for Teachers) since 2003.

She is a widely renowned keynote speaker, has published 5 books for teachers, and offers a weekly podcast called Truth for Teachers. Click here to learn more about her work.

Watson created the program in 2015 to address the teacher attrition crisis, and offer support to dedicated yet exhausted teachers so they can maintain their enthusiasm for the profession. The resources are based on years of Watson’s work researching productivity strategies for teachers and testing them out in classrooms across the country.

Now welcoming it’s 12th cohort, the club is continually improving with teacher input and feedback. Three committees of graduated members have joined the 40HTW Team and help update the materials and keep them current.

What makes 40 Hour an effective online PD option?

    1. Easy-to-use course portal

Each teacher has an individual login and password. Simply click to the topic you’re interested in, then download the PDF or listen to the audio version. Here’s a 30 second preview of the site. (NOTE: We've recently updated the site format--check this space soon to see the new look!)

    2. Customized professional development

Members are guided step-by-step as they examine every aspect of their work in order to streamline and systematize. They are encouraged to read (or listen to) a variety of strategies and select one which meets their needs and their students’ needs.

    3. Self-reflection and improvement tools

Each quarter, teachers take a week to document their progress and reflect on how their teaching has changed.

    4. Collaboration and coaching through an online PLN

Teachers receive a high quality Personal Learning Network included with their membership: they can check into a private Facebook group to ask questions and share resources. There is a group for elementary teachers and one for secondary teachers. Specific discussions related to the week’s productivity strategies are also held within the group.

    5. Documentation of learning for professional development credits

A PD log is provided to support teachers in documenting both work completed and results. Members typically spend up to 2 hours per week reflecting on their teaching practice and planning ways to improve. Since this is a 52 week program, a certificate for up to 104 continuing education hours can be issued.

Additionally, educators can earn graduate-level credits toward a masters degree for completing any of our 40 Hour programs. Learn more about our NEW partnership with the University of the Pacific–Benerd College!
