How the Application Process Works

1. Create a video (no longer than 3 minutes) telling us who you are and why you want to be part of the 40 Hour Teacher Workweek Club.

This does not have to be super formal or professional—just be yourself, and keep it short (videos longer than 3 minutes will be disqualified.) Upload the video to a public social media account, YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox, or somewhere else we’ll be able to watch it.

2. Fill out our form between May 1st-20th only, and include a link to your video.

Click here to complete the 2023 application form.

3. Submit!

Important note: By completing the scholarship application and submitting your video link, you give your consent that we may publicly share part of your video and/or a screen capture image from your video if you are awarded a scholarship. Your full name and identifying information will never be shared.

Selection Criteria

We're awarding 20 scholarships to K-12 teachers worldwide.

We emphasize diversity of all kinds in the program, and encourage people from under-represented groups in the teaching profession to apply.

Your video does not need to explain financial hardship, but should convey a clear need for the program.

We're looking for teachers who can persuasively express compelling reasons why they want to join the cohort and how they believe they'd benefit. You can learn more about how the program works and what topics are covered here.

We're also looking for applicants who are likely to make full use of the resources, so your video should convey initiative and a commitment to getting results.

The application period is May 1-20th each year, with recipients announced on May 25th.

The 2023 application period is now open!

Want more ways to join at no cost to you?

The upcoming school year is going to be different than anything we’ve faced before as educators, and we're committed to supporting you in managing your workload and staying in balance.

40 Hour Full Year is online professional development for teacher productivity, designed to help you find a sustainable way to teach. Each month throughout the yearlong program, you’ll get timely practical resources for getting organized, streamlining your workflow, and staying focused on what really moves the needle for kids.

The 40 Hour Teacher Workweek has already helped more than 46,000 teachers take control of their time.

The Full Year program is only offered once a year — it starts in July, and with early bird access beginning June 1st.

You can’t join YET, but I wanted you to have a heads up now about alternative ways to get funding. That way if paying out of pocket isn’t a good option, you can plan to have the $149 covered when the club opens next month:

1. See if your school has unused PD funds that must be spent by June 30th

With conferences and speakers cancelled, there may be money for professional development right now that wouldn’t normally be available. We’ll make sure the invoice shows a May or June date, and get you enrolled before the fiscal year ends.

2. Ask your admin about enrolling in online PD for the coming school year to support you in the new teaching expectations

Even with budget cuts, there is always funding allocated to PD that must be used for only that purpose. Most districts will be prioritizing online PD next year instead of face-to-face, and 40 Hour is one of the most affordable options available.

3. Get DonorsChoose funding

40 Hour is a recognized PD provider with DonorsChoose, and you can raise funds to help you learn best practices for maximizing instructional time in the “new normal.”

4. Ask friends or family to sponsor you

If you have an upcoming birthday or other celebration, tell folks that this course is the gift you need most. Gift certificates are available now for purchase.

Whatever new challenges you'll be facing in the 2023-2024 school year, we've got you covered!

This program will connect you with emerging best practices and a community of other teachers who are committed to being truly intentional with their time and staying focused on what matters most.

40 Hour is designed to help you simplify throughout your teaching career — no matter what or where or how you teach later on.

You keep your access to all the materials AND the Facebook group indefinitely, and can revisit them anytime!

I hope you’ll decide to join us this summer. None of us have all the answers, but we’re smarter together, and I’ve seen firsthand how innovative this community of teachers has been since day one.

I’m willing to do the hard work of finding the emerging best practices and work-arounds for you next year, so you can cut through any mixed messages and impossible-sounding expectations to find a sustainable way to teach. Your mental, emotional, and physical health are more important now than ever, and I’m not giving up on my quest to help teachers stay in balance and show up as the best version of themselves each day.

It’s not going to be easy, but it's going to be worth it! We can do this, together.
